Summer Travels: Part Two - Sweden and Russia

The second leg of our summer travels was quick 2-day visit to Stockholm, Sweden. Such a great, laid back, and aesthetic city! From Stockholm, we met up with my girlfriend Azalea and her mum Caroline and we all flew to St Petersburg, Russia. Another amazing place. We spent 2 days in the Hermitage museum and almost another two days in the Russian Museum, both were incredible! We loved the mosaics at the Church of Spilled Blood and we went to see a ballet of Hamlet at the Mariinsky theatre. Then, we took the high speed train to Moscow. Moscow was FABULOUS!! Highlights included: Red Square, Lenin's Mausoleum, an incredible exhibit on the Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky, a huge exhibit of the paintings of Illyia Repin, and the Tretyakov Museum, which included the icons of Andrei Rublev. We also took a day trip to visit Tolstoy's Estate, Yasnaya Polyana, and Chekhov's estate at Melikhovo. At Chekhov's place, we were lucky enough to see a site-specific and all-Russian production of The Seagull.
